Srishti Goyal

Hello!
I successfully defended my PhD in Economics at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), Spain, on February 14, 2025, receiving the highest distinction of Excellent ‘Cum Laude’. My dissertation, “Essays on Climate Change and its Distributional Impacts: CO2 Emissions Transmission in an Integrated Global Economic System,” employs Environmentally Extended Multi-Regional Input-Output (EE-MRIO) modeling framework to investigate the role of international trade in CO2 emissions, with a particular focus on sectoral dynamics and policy implications.
During my PhD, I was a visiting researcher at the University of Sussex, UK, where I had the opportunity to engage with international scholars and gain additional insights into global environmental-economic interactions. My research interests lie in exploring the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of climate change, particularly in understanding the distributional impacts of environmental policies and trade dynamics across regions and sectors.
Professionally, I have worked with UNESCO MGIEP and Young Lives India, where I contributed to projects on education, health, and child protection, gaining experience in working with diverse stakeholders, including government bodies, NGOs, and international organizations. These experiences have also enhanced my ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
I am currently an Editorial Board Member for the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) Newsletter and serve on the Graduate Student Engagement Committee for the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE). Through these roles, I actively engage with the academic community, contributing to knowledge dissemination and supporting initiatives that contribute to professional development.
My academic and professional experience has guided my interest in evidence-based research that informs policy. I aspire for my work to have a positive impact on the policy environment and contribute effectively towards sustainable development goals.
