My fascination with Economics began in high school and has continued to captivate me ever since. I’ve been fortunate to have supportive teachers and professors who have nurtured my curiosity in this field. Pursuing my passion, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Economics from Janki Devi Memorial College, University of Delhi, and later pursued a master’s degree in Economics from TERI University (now, TERI School of Advanced Studies). In 2021, I began my Ph.D. studies at Universitat Rovira i Virgili, where I deepened my understanding of the field through research on climate change and its distributional impacts.

I completed my Ph.D. in Economics at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) in February 2025, successfully defending my dissertation, “Essays on Climate Change and its Distributional Impacts: CO2 Emissions Transmission in an Integrated Global Economic System,” on February 14, 2025. My research was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Maria Llop Llop and was reviewed by a thesis committee comprising Prof. Ferran Sancho (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), Prof. Rosa Duarte (University of Zaragoza), and Prof. Erik Dietzenbacher (University of Groningen). I was awarded the highest distinction of Excellent ‘Cum Laude’.

My doctoral research received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 945413, along with support from URV. As a Martí i Franquès COFUND Doctoral (MFP) Fellow.

I was a member of the Quantitative Urban and Regional Economics (QURE) Research Group, and the Research Centre on Economics and Sustainability (ECO-SOS). I actively participated in various courses, projects, seminars, and conferences, contributing to ongoing discussions in environmental and climate economics:

I studied M.Sc. Economics at TERI School of Advanced Studies (TERI SAS) during 2014-16. There is a big difference in the pedagogy followed at TERI SAS as compared to other Indian Education Institutions. Unlike, the traditional Indian Education Institutions, courses here thrived on students’ curiosity. Our assessment was partly based on applications of the concept studied in research term papers or assignment.   The taught courses throughout the first year were inclined towards the provision of conceptual clarity, the second year focused more on specialization, advanced studies, and master’s thesis.

I wrote my master’s thesis on ‘Dematerialization and Income Distribution’ that aimed to tread a path to well-being and growth simultaneously by addressing all the three components of sustainable development (i.e. economic, social, and environmental). My dissertation focused on the decoupling of resource exploitation and growth, and propounded that more egalitarian income distribution can pave the way to dematerialization, which will positively affect the well-being of both the environment and human beings. It was awarded an A+ grade.

From Kindergarten to Grade 12, I have spent 14 years studying at St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Janak Puri, Delhi. During my senior secondary education, I opted for Commerce stream and studied subjects like Economics, Mathematics, Accountancy, Business Studies, and English. In the Senior School Certificate Examination (twelfth grade), undertaken by the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) in India, I secured the first position in the school. I was awarded ‘Hindustan Pratibha Samman’ for the same in 2011.
