Academia
My fascination with Economics began in high school and has continued to captivate me ever since. I’ve been fortunate to have supportive teachers and professors who have nurtured my curiosity in this field. Pursuing my passion, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Economics from Janki Devi Memorial College, University of Delhi, and later pursued a master’s degree in Economics from TERI University (now, TERI School of Advanced Studies). Building on my academic journey, I embarked on my Ph.D. studies at Universitat Rovira i Virgili in 2021.
I am studying Ph.D. Economics at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) since 2021. I am a member of the Quantitative Urban and Regional Economics (QURE) Research Group, and the Research Centre on Economics and Sustainability (ECO-SOS).
To conduct my research on ‘Climate Change and its Distributional Impacts’, I have received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 945413 and from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). I studied M.Sc. Economics at TERI School of Advanced Studies (TERI SAS) during 2014-16. There is a big difference in the pedagogy followed at TERI SAS as compared to other Indian Education Institutions. Unlike, the traditional Indian Education Institutions, courses here thrived on students’ curiosity. Our assessment was partly based on applications of the concept studied in research term papers or assignment. The taught courses throughout the first year were inclined towards the provision of conceptual clarity, the second year focused more on specialization, advanced studies, and master’s thesis.
I wrote my master’s thesis on ‘Dematerialization and Income Distribution’ that aimed to tread a path to well-being and growth simultaneously by addressing all the three components of sustainable development (i.e. economic, social, and environmental). My dissertation focused on the decoupling of resource exploitation and growth, and propounded that more egalitarian income distribution can pave the way to dematerialization, which will positively affect the well-being of both the environment and human beings. It was awarded an A+ grade.
